The TC CFAR is hosting a hybrid seminar featuring Mark Dworkin, MD, at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. Brian Mustanski, PhD, professor of Medical Social Sciences at Northwestern University, and director of the TC CFAR, will moderate the event.
Description
Technological approaches are an emerging field of research for promoting medication adherence. This presentation will describe research: 1) using a talking relational agent in a mobile phone app delivering information, motivation, and behavioral skills; and 2) electronic adherence monitoring employed as part of a supportive approach where patients, their trusted social support person, and their case manager are notified of non-adherence in a triaged manner.
About the Presenter
Mark Dworkin, MD, is a professor and associate director of Epidemiology in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Public Health. His current NIH-funded research focuses on technological approaches to improving medication adherence in people with HIV. He has led research studies on topics related to HIV, syphilis, and immunization-preventable diseases in the US, India, France, Italy, Switzerland, and Puerto Rico. Dr. Dworkin is a a former state epidemiologist at IDPH and worked in the Division of HIV/AIDS at CDC.
