Membership
Who can be a Third Coast CFAR member?
Membership is free and easy to register in one of the following categories: Faculty Member, Affiliate Member, or Supporting Member. Benefits of each are outlined below. Contact a research navigator with questions about Third Coast CFAR membership cfar@northwestern.edu.
Third Coast CFAR Faculty Members
Third Coast CFAR Faculty Membership is available to faculty-level investigators at Northwestern University, University of Chicago, and Lurie Children’s Hospital who are eligible to apply for NIH grants as a principal investigator. Members can:
- Access all core facilities / services
- Apply for Developmental Core funding opportunities
- Apply for NIH CFAR supplemental funding opportunities
- Participate in a Scientific Working Group to collaborate with other researchers
- Receive electronic communications about HIV-related symposia, conferences, seminars, trainings, funding opportunities, employment opportunities, and other useful information.

Third Coast CFAR Affiliate Members
This membership is available to individuals engaged in HIV-related research or services in the Chicagoland area.
Affiliate Members can collaborate with a Third Coast CFAR member to access our Core facilities and services and to apply for Developmental Core Awards. Affiliate Members can also:
- Participate in a Scientific Working Group to collaborate with researchers
- Receive electronic communications about HIV-related symposia, conferences, seminars, trainings, funding opportunities, employment opportunities, and other useful information.

Third Coast CFAR Supporting Members
Supporting Membership is available to anyone interested, upon request. Supporting Members can:
- Receive electronic communications about HIV-related research activities in Chicago, funding opportunities, employment opportunities, and other useful information.
- Participate in CFAR seminars, symposia, workshops, and other events.
- May be eligible for Third Coast CFAR core services.
