The Center for HIV and Research in Mental Health (CHARM, PI: Dr. Steven Safren) at the University of Miami is hiring! The Center is searching for clinical research and outreach coordinators for its Mental Health Disparities and Community Engagement (MHD-CE) Core and a senior research analyst for its Equitable Implementation Science (EIS) Core.

The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 (Psychology) of the MHD-CE Core will serve as the coordinator for all operational, personnel, programmatic, and financial matters which may affect the short or long-term success of the Core, and reports to the Core Director, Dr. Sannisha Dale (Main and Medical Campus, Miami) and Co-Directors, Drs. Hansel Tookes and Allan Rodriguez (Medical Campus, Miami). The core coordinator will serve as the administrative liaison between the Core and the Administrative Core of CHARM, Dr. Safren, departmental and university administrators, and the local community. This position will work closely with the Core Directors of CHARM (Drs. Safren, Dale, Behar-Zusman, Feaster, Jones, and Prado), with the Community Advisory Board (CAB), and with the local community (in collaboration with the MHD-CE Outreach Coordinator).

The applicant should have a strong scientific writing background and must be able to spearhead the programmatic components of the Core, including annual progress report writing to NIMH, and managing the upstart and logistics of a new Community-Led Pilot Grant funding mechanism. The person in this role must be able to work with invited speakers for Core seminars and panels, including the MHD-CE Core Speaker Series and the CHARMing Conversations panels, which involves finding speakers and panelists based on expertise, scheduling the events, creating satisfaction surveys in REDCap, and handling speaker payments/honorariums.

The applicant should demonstrate both experience with and interest in psychology and/or mental health research, preferably focused on HIV, racial/ethnic minority health, LGBTQ+ health, behavioral medicine, mental health, and/or community health.

The Outreach Coordinator – Part-time (Psychology) of the MHD-CE Core will be responsible for conducting outreach with community organizations, building, and expanding reach/relationships, and engaging with, and helping to support the Community Advisory Board (CAB). This person will bring lived expertise regarding factors faced by people living with and placed at risk for HIV and must have a history of community engagement/advocacy within the Miami area. This is a part-time position that is expected to work roughly 24 hours/week.

The primary focus of this position is on building collaborative bi-directional research relationships with Community Organizations focusing on HIV and mental health prevention and care. The coordinator will also conduct outreach, recruitment, and retention of participants on several studies related to mental health and HIV prevention and treatment, particularly within the communities most impacted by HIV in Miami (e.g., transgender and gender non-confirming persons, sexual minority men and racially and ethnically minoritized communities).

The applicant should demonstrate both experience with and interest in psychology and/or mental health research preferably focused on racial/ethnic minority health, LGBTQ health, behavioral medicine, HIV, chronic illnesses, trauma, mental health and/or community health.

The Senior Research Analyst (School of Nursing) of the EIS Core will prepare data, conduct statistical analysis and summarize results for large research projects. Specifically, this position will coordinate all start up activities of the new EIS Core, collect and analyze data from the EIS Core, maintain and develop correspondence systems for the Core and organize meetings for the Core, and conduct additional duties.

The applicant should have skills in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data; an ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems; an ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions; and excellent communication skills.
