The University of Chicago’s Department of Medicine’s Section of Infectious Diseases and Global Health in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Assistant Professor, Research Associate Professor, or Research Professor, whose primary activity will be academic research in association with a faculty member or team. The successful applicant will best contribute to a research project on the intersection of HIV, STIs, criminal justice involvement and opioid use among vulnerable populations. The candidate will join an outstanding group of researchers who apply state-of-the-art analytic methods to a broad range of research related to HIV, STIs and opioid use, including epidemiology, biostatistics, mathematical modeling, network analysis, network intervention, predictive analytics and cost-effectiveness analyses. The successful candidate will complement these existing areas of strength, and work across several trans-disciplinary and collaborative units in Chicago working towards HIV elimination. These include the School of Social Services Administration (SSA), NORC, Justice Community Opioid Network (JCOIN), Third Coast Center for AIDS Research (TC-CFAR), Center for Prevention Implementation Methodology (CePIM), University of Chicago Crime Lab, Department of Sociology and Argonne National Laboratory (ANL). The candidate will contribute critical expertise to ongoing community-based research and work closely with implementation programs working primarily in the South Side communities in Chicago and beyond. We especially welcome applicants with expertise in experience in study design and primary data collection as well as model development and analysis. Publication record and contributions to grants will be considered.

Applicants must 1) have a doctoral degree or equivalent in the quantitative social sciences, statistics or biostatistics, public health, biological sciences or related disciplines, and 2) completed postdoctoral training prior to the start of employment.
