CFAR Welcomes Dr. Jennifer Jao, Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
The Third Coast CFAR congratulates Jennifer Jao, MD, MPH, for her appointment as Associate Professor at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in the Departments of Pediatric and Adult Infectious Diseases. Dr. Jao has led cohorts of HIV-infected pregnant women and their children both in the U.S. and Africa and as a translational researcher, her research portfolio targets the long-term metabolic effects of in utero exposure to HIV and antiretroviral medications.
Dr. Jao’s research focus is on HIV maternal child health. She is the Principal Investigator on NIH-funded studies in the U.S. and Africa to better understand the long-term health outcomes of HIV-exposed infants. Dr. Jao is also a member of the U.S. Panel on the Treatment of HIV-Infected Pregnant Women and Prevention of Perinatal Transmission Guidelines Panel and the Scientific Leadership Group of the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS). She obtained her BA in French Literature at Tulane University and MD at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Jao then completed a Medicine/Pediatrics residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and her Infectious Disease Fellowship along with her MPH degree at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
